Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest

Kids can enjoy most activities at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Halloween event in Vallejo, CA!

In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest fun! This fun, multi-faceted theme park in Vallejo, CA is the most family-friendly theme park Halloween event in the Bay Area...and yet, there are a few chills in store for teens & adults, as well. On this page, you can discover the activities you'll enjoy if you visit this northern California 6 Flags park during the month of October.

What are the 2011 dates & hours of Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest?

Picture: Scary horned monster at the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Fright Fest in Vallejo, California Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Halloween event is going to open this year on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Fright Fest will run every Saturday & Sunday in October...from Saturday the 1st through Sunday, October 30th. Only one Friday...October 28th...will be open for Fright Fest, however. And, strangely enough, Discovery Kingdom's Halloween event will NOT be held on Halloween night! (October 31st falls on a Monday in 2011; the park must figure that since many people have school or work the next day, there wouldn't be a big enough crowd.)

Specifically, Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest dates for 2011 are October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30th. On all other days in October, the Discovery Kingdom theme park is closed.

Friday hours: Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest will only open on 1 Friday evening this year--October 28th. Opening time is at 4 pm, and closing time is at 10 pm on this date.

Saturday hours: If you visit Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest, going on a Saturday will give you the longest hours to enjoy the park's rides, attractions and Halloween activities. On all Saturdays in October (the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th,) Discovery Kingdom's theme park & Fright Fest starts at 12 noon and ends at 10 pm.

Sunday hours: On all Sundays in October (the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23th & 30th,) Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest will open at 12 noon and close at 9 pm. The earlier you arrive, the more park attractions you'll be able to enjoy!

Activities at the Discovery Kingdom Fright Fest

Picture: Bugs Bunny's Halloween Vampire Costume; 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom near San Francisco, CA Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's rides, attractions and animal shows continue running during Fright Fest. Your kids can enjoy all the delightful animals in the park's "Land" and "Sea" areas. Young ones may enjoy the kiddie rides and attractions, and older members of the family will have a chance to board their favorite roller coasters.

In addition, the theme park offers you a number of fun seasonal activities.

Halloween decorations abound in the park, and set a fun atmosphere for Fall fun. Families of toddlers and preschoolers should note, however, that some "scary" decorations, such as skeletons, are part of the decor.

The park's Looney Tunes characters come all dressed up in their Halloween costumes! Maybe your kids can get their picture taken with Pirate Daffy Duck, Ballplayer Tweety Bird, or Vampire Bugs Bunny!

Mr. Six's Spooktacular Street Party will NOT be returning in 2011. Mr. Six has been booted out from representing the Six Flags Parks. However, Mr. Six's dance party was such a fun family Halloween activity, it will certainly be replaced with a similar event.

Picture: Michael Jackson's Thriller Dance is part of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's annual Halloween Fright Fest activities In the picture to your left, you can see the park's talented ghoulish dancers re-creating Michael Jackson's famous Thriller dance at a recent Fright Fest...an extra-cool Halloween attraction at that year's event!

Ghouls and monsters do more than dance at Discovery Kingdom, though. They also try their best to scare you...and sometimes they can sneak up & catch you completely unawares!

Extra-fee haunted houses are available for those who want more terrifying fare...and there are more of them in 2011 than were offered in previous years. (However, MOST Halloween activities are included with your "normal" admission fee, however, making the Discovery Kingdom's Halloween event an economical way to celebrate the season.)

Shouka the killer whale, the Discovery Kingdom dolphins, and the park's sea lions also have cute Halloween shows which will delight family members of all ages. Check your schedule of showtimes as you enter the park, though...or you might miss the show you want to see (there aren't too many show times for these events.)

Ticket Prices for Discovery Kingdom's Fright Fest

Picture: Taz in his Halloween pumpkin costume! Six Flags Fright Fest in Vallejo, California Fright Fest activities are included with your regular Six Flags Discovery Kingdom admission ticket. In other words, Fright Fest is NOT a separately-ticketed event. Once you buy your ticket (or enter the park with your season pass,) you'll be able to enjoy ALL of Discovery Kingdom's attractions of your choosing (except for the extra-fee haunted houses.) All of Discovery Kingdom's regular rides, exhibits and shows will be open along with the special Halloween attractions. The only time you'll have to pay an extra fee is if you want to enter one of the Haunted Houses at Fright Fest.

How much do the Discovery Kingdom Fright Fest tickets cost? Since Discovery Kingdom may change its ticket prices at any time, the actual price may change before October. At the time of this update, if you pay full price at the theme park's ticket booths, the adult ticket price would be $49.99. Kids under 48 inches tall would pay only $35.99. Of course, if you plan ahead, you probably won't have to pay full price, because there are a number of good discounts available.

Discovery Kingdom website: If you've never been to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, you need to know that this is a huge theme park stuffed full of both family attractions & thrill rides...then, combined with many animal attractions and shows like you might find at a large zoo...and ALSO combined with marine-life exhibits and shows, like you'd find at a park like Sea World. There are already so many things to do at Discovery Kingdom that you can't experience the entire park in one day. And, that's WITHOUT the extra Fright Fest attractions thrown into the mix! So, be sure to allot plenty of time for your visit.

Discovery Kingdom website: It's especially important if you've got a limited time schedule to pre-plan the activities that you & your family will want to see.
