And, if you go, do you plan to give the Expedition Everest ride a try? Maybe the pictures and info on this page can help you decide!
Expedition Everest attraction: are you game?
What thoughts are on your mind as you comtemplate riding this zippy coaster?
IF you're a thrill ride lover...and IF you're heading to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park... then the question of "will you---or WON'T you---ride Expedition Everest" is already settled in your mind. The answer is a resounding YES! Your questions and worries probably sound something like this: "Will Expedition Everest be open the day I go to Animal Kingdom? Whoa, I hope it isn't closed for refurbishment! If it's down, what will I DO? Either I won't go to the park at all, or I'll have to make sure I go back again when the ride is running."
Then, once you're sure that the Expedition Everest attraction will definitely be open during your vacation, you may start in with a whole NEW set of worries--"I hope we can ride Expedition Everest the very first thing. There can't be TOO big a line early in the morning, can there? I hope nobody comes to the park the day I'm there--no people, no line! But, if there's a line, I've GOTTA grab a fast pass. Or, maybe I'll get a Fast Pass and ride Expedition Everest anyway....and then I can use my fast pass for a 2nd ride later after the line gets long." There certainly ARE many worries for thrill-ride lovers who want to give Expedition Everest a try! If you've ever had any of these thoughts, you're in good company. Almost every other roller coaster-lover has wondered about those very same things!
But, if you're not a die-hard thrill ride lover, you probably haven't yet decided if you'll try out Expedition Everest. You're wondering if it's too tall...too fast...too nauseating. Or, if you might get on the ride, then spend the whole rest of the time just wishing you could escape. Well...nobody can decide for you. And you know your own body best. BUT...it's fun without being either too tall nor TOO scary. How can that be possible?
Expedition Everest's fake mountain is much taller than the roller coaster inside of it.
Naturally, when you first glimpse the huge, hulking mountain which is the "home" of the coaster within, you'll gulp. You'll very naturally assume that the roller coaster scales the entire height of the mountain.
But it doesn't.
The mountain wasn't built ONLY to be an attraction; it was ALSO built to be an iconic "centerpiece" of Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. You know...something that will ALWAYS remind people of their theme park visit every time they see its picture. It's kind of like Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom in that sense!
You don't really plunge the height of Expedition Everest's tallest mountain peak (199 feet.)
The actual drop you'll make is only 80 feet---less than half the height of "Everest" mountain!
Seniors ride Expedition Everest. Kids ride it, too. (They love the other kids thinking how brave they are. They never give its "secret" away about how much shorter the ride is than the mountain!)
Another important fact: you'll make NO inversions while riding Expedition Everest. So, the ride seems tamer than other coasters its size that DO turn upside down. To make a long story shore: If you're leaning towards giving this fun roller coaster a try, then yes, you should give it a whirl!
Fun Facts about the Expedition Everest Ride

What are some special things about Expedition Everest?
Expedition Everest goes beyond being a "mere" roller coaster because of its surprises and special effects. Just as you get zooming along, the roller coaster stops dead in its tracks. Why? There's a story going on here, you suddenly realize...and you've got to quickly figure out what has caused the coaster train to stop...and wonder what will be done to fix the "problem."
There are visual effects and sound effects, too that make this ride more than "just" a roller coaster.
Will there be a long line for Expedition Everest?
You bet! Be sure to head to Expedition Everest soon after you enter Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. If the line is already too long to suit you, here's some good news: Fast Passes are available for this ride! Grab a fast pass for each member of your group, then enjoy the other attractions in the area while you wait. When you return, you'll enter via the quick moving Fast Pass entrance...and save lots of time.
Are you visiting the park alone? More good news---Expedition Everest has a "single rider" entrance! You can save time by filling an unused seat not needed by larger groups who have boarded before you. It's efficient, and it will mean lots less of a wait for you.
