Halloween at California's Great AmericaThis fun Santa Clara theme park offers the Bay Area's scariest theme park Halloween event!In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of both cute and scary Halloween decorations at California's Great America theme park in Santa Clara, California. You won't have to wonder if anyone's creeping up behind you during the daytime; but watch out after dark! At the park's separately-ticketed Halloween Haunt, monsters are on the loose, and the sounds of shrieks & screams fill the air. Do you dare visit? How does California's Great America celebrate Halloween?The big event is Halloween Haunt, the park's after-hours, separately ticketed special event!There are 2 ways that you can celebrate Halloween at California's Great America.The first is to visit the theme park during the daytime (during the park's normal hours of operation.) You'll be able to enjoy all the park's rides, see Halloween decorations and enjoy a few kiddie Halloween happenings. This year, your kids may dress up in their costumes & enjoy a cute, tame Halloween celebration in Great America's new children's section, Planet Snoopy. Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown & other Peanuts characters will entertain your little ones without any frightful monsters anywhere in sight. Daytime events are included as part of the attractions you may enjoy as part of your regular admission ticket or season pass benefits. At night, monsters rule the park and scary haunted houses await to terrify you. It's all part of the park's Halloween Haunt! This is a separately ticketed event (which means that even if you've been to the theme park earlier in the day, you'll have to buy another ticket to attend the Halloween Haunt activities in the evening.) The only exception to this rule is if you have a gold or premium annual pass that you purchased at California's Great America. (Premium pass holders from other Cedar Fair parks may enter at a steeply discounted price...but not free.) California's Great America--2011 Haunt DatesYou can attend the theme park's Halloween events during the following dates & hoursDaytime theme park visits are limited to Saturdays and Sundays in October, 2011. Every Saturday and Sunday, you may enjoy the park's rides & attractions starting at 10 am and ending at 5:30 pm. Then, you'll have to exit the park...and you won't be able to re-enter for the Halloween Haunt unless you have purchased a special ticket for the event.The 2011 California's Great America Halloween Haunt begins on Friday, September 30th...from 7 pm until midnight. Then during October, the park's Halloween Haunt will be held EVERY Friday, Saturday & Sunday evening in October. Operating hours for the California's Great America Haunt are simple. The Halloween Haunt always begins at 7 pm and always ends at midnight. In other words, you may attend the haunt on the following Fridays---September 30, October 7, 14, 21, and 28. The Saturday Haunt dates are October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The Sundays it will be held are October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30th. (As it stands currently, the CA Great America Haunt will NOT be held on Halloween night itself...which is Monday, October 31st.) Sunday, October 30th is the last night that the event is being offered this year. In fact, October 30th will be the very last day of Great Adventure's 2011 operating season. California's Great America--Haunt discount tickets1.) One way to get cheaper tickets is to get a Burger King discount coupon for this event. The Burger King coupon is good for between $5 to $15 off the price of each ticket--depending on which night you choose to visit. Generally speaking, the closer to Halloween you plan your visit, then the less discount the coupon brings you. 2.) An easy way to save money is to use the theme park's own print at home discounts available on the park's website. 3.) Military Discount for the Haunt: California's Great America gives a generous discount to members of the military. These special military-only tickets are not available online, but you can get them at the theme park's ticket booths. Don't forget to bring your current military ID with you to the Halloween Haunt! 4.) Student Discount: If you're a high school or college student, be sure to bring your valid school photo ID to the CGA ticket booths. (Only the student will receive this discount, and not family members.) Student discount tickets for the Halloween Haunt are not available online. 5.) Theme park-lovers should consider getting the park's gold or platinum season passes. Why? Because 2011 Gold & Platinum pass-holders get FREE admission to the Halloween Haunt at California's Great America! Cedar Fair pass holder discounts: If you hold a platinum pass which you purchased at a DIFFERENT Cedar Fair park, you won't get free admission to the Halloween Haunt at California's Great America. However, you'll get a good discount to the event. Last year, we were able to get substantially discounted Great America Halloween Haunt tickets by showing our platinum passes that was originally purchased at Cedar Point in Ohio. What attractions are at the Halloween Haunt?California's Great America wants to scare YOU this Halloween!In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of scary monsters & decorations from last year's Halloween Haunt at California's Great America. As you can see, some of the monsters don't mind posing for the camera...but that's AFTER they've already sneaked up on you and made you scream! What attractions await you at this year's Haunt? Other scare zones at California's Great America are The Gauntlet, Underworld Alley and Witch Doctor's Trail. 2.) Haunted mazes/Haunted houses! By whatever name you call them, these are themed areas where you'll meet yet MORE scary characters...but with no place to go run & hide from them! There are 6 haunted houses at this year's activity, each with a different theme. If you like evil clowns, you won't want to miss Carn-Evil. Others include the Toy Factory, Corn Stalkers, Werewolf Canyon, Club Blood and The Slaughterhouse. 3.) Rides! Shows! While many of the park's rides are open during the Haunt, one special ride has been changed into a Halloween-themed attraction. This is the Logger's Run flume...which for the Halloween Haunt will be turned into the scary Black Widow's Cavern theme. In addition, several live shows are held, as well.
