Halloween at California's Great America
This fun Santa Clara theme park offers the Bay Area's scariest theme park Halloween event!
In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of both cute and scary Halloween decorations at California's Great America theme park in Santa Clara, California. You won't have to wonder if anyone's creeping up behind you during the daytime; but watch out after dark! At the park's separately-ticketed Halloween Haunt, monsters are on the loose, and the sounds of shrieks & screams fill the air. Do you dare visit? Maybe the pics & info on this page will help you to decide!
How does California's Great America celebrate Halloween?
The big event is Halloween Haunt, the park's after-hours, separately ticketed special event!
There are 2 ways that you can celebrate Halloween at California's Great America. The first is to visit the theme park during the daytime (during the park's normal hours of operation.) You'll be able to enjoy all the park's rides, see Halloween decorations and enjoy a few kiddie Halloween happenings. This year, your kids may dress up in their costumes & enjoy a cute, tame Halloween celebration in Great America's new children's section, Planet Snoopy. Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown & other Peanuts characters will entertain your little ones without any frightful monsters anywhere in sight. Daytime events are included as part of the attractions you may enjoy as part of your regular admission ticket or season pass benefits. At night, monsters rule the park and scary haunted houses await to terrify you. It's all part of the park's Halloween Haunt! This is a separately ticketed event (which means that even if you've been to the theme park earlier in the day, you'll have to buy another ticket to attend the Halloween Haunt activities in the evening.) The only exception to this rule is if you have a gold or premium annual pass that you purchased at California's Great America. (Premium pass holders from other Cedar Fair parks may enter at a steeply discounted price...but not free.)
California's Great America--2010 Haunt Dates
You can attend the theme park's Halloween events during the following dates & hours
Daytime theme park visits are limited to Saturdays and Sundays in October, 2010. Every Saturday and Sunday, you may enjoy the park's rides & attractions starting at 10 am and ending at 5:30 pm. Then, you'll have to exit the park...and you won't be able to re-enter for the Halloween Haunt unless you have purchased a special ticket for the event. The 2010 California's Great America Halloween Haunt will be held every Friday, Saturday & Sunday evening in October. California's Great America Halloween Haunt always begins at 7 pm and ends at midnight. In other words, you may attend the haunt on the following Fridays---October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The Saturday Haunt dates are October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. The Sundays it will be held are October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31st (Halloween night itself.) Sunday, October 31st is the last night that the event is offered this year; it will NOT be held on November 1st. In fact, October 31st will be the very last day of Great Adventure's 2010 operating season.
California's Great America--Haunt discount tickets
Full price admission to the Halloween Haunt is $39.99. Are there ways you can save money on this price? You bet! There are a number of ways you can save money on your California's Great America Halloween Haunt tickets. 1.) Last Halloween, one way was to get a Burger King discount coupon for this event. The Burger King coupon was good for between $5 to $15 off the price of each ticket--depending on which night you chose to visit. It's very possible that the Burger King discount for the Halloween Haunt will return again in 2010; BK is a frequent sponsor of other Cedar Fair theme park Halloween events. 2.) Another way to save money last year was to use the theme park's own print at home discounts available on their website. Last year, you could save even more money if you bought your tickets in groups of 2 or 4...so it was a good idea to get everyone in your party to get their tickets on the same order. It's highly probable that the 2010 Halloween Haunt at Great America will once again offer print-at-home ticket discounts. Most Cedar Fair theme parks do offer this discount every year at Halloween time. 3.) Theme park fans should consider getting the park's gold or platinum season passes. Currently, you can get a great deal: buy your 2010 gold or platinum season pass now...and you'll get free admission to the 2010 Halloween Haunt at California's Great America, as well! If you'd like to see the complete list of benefits & check prices, here's a link to the season pass page of the California's Great America website. 4.) Cedar Fair pass holder discounts: If you hold a platinum pass which you purchased at a different Cedar Fair park, you'll get a good discount to the event at California's Great America. Last year, I was able to get a Great America Halloween Haunt ticket for $19.99...by showing a platinum pass that was originally purchased at Cedar Point in Ohio.
What attractions are at the Halloween Haunt?
California's Great America wants to scare YOU this Halloween!
In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of scary monsters & decorations from the 2009 Halloween Haunt at California's Great America. As you can see, some of the monsters don't mind posing for the camera...but that's AFTER they've already sneaked up on you and made you scream! What attractions await you at this year's Haunt? 1.) Monster-filled scare zones! As you can see, some of the monsters above are dressed like phantom pirates. They're part of the fun themed scare zone, "Dead Man's Cove." Three other scare zones feature monsters and zombies, too---each one with their own individual costume & makeup. As you can tell from the slide show pictures above, great detail is taken to give each monster at the Haunt a super "look." Other scare zones at California's Great America are The Gauntlet, Underworld Alley and Witch Doctor's Trail. 2.) Haunted mazes/Haunted houses! By whatever name you call them, these are themed areas where you'll meet yet MORE scary characters...but with no place to go run & hide from them! There are 6 haunted houses at this year's activity, each with a different theme. If you like evil clowns, you won't want to miss Carn-Evil. Others include the Toy Factory, Corn Stalkers, Werewolf Canyon, Club Blood and The Slaughterhouse. 3.) Rides! Shows! While many of the park's rides are open during the Haunt, one special ride has been changed into a Halloween-themed attraction. This is the Logger's Run flume...which for the Halloween Haunt has been turned into the scary Camp GonnaGetcha theme. In addition, several live shows are held, as well.
