Magic Kingdom Parade 2009
"Celebrate a Dream Come True" is Walt Disney World's main parade in 2009!
In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of Walt Disney World's "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade. This colorful, character-filled parade is being performed this year at the Magic Kingdom theme park...the most popular of all the WDW parks. And WHY is this brand new parade (which debuted in January, 2009) being performed right now?Because 2009 is the year that's all about YOU at Disney World--and the wonderful events in your life that you're celebrating with a visit to the Magic Kingdom! And, the Walt Disney World "Celebration" parade helps to carry out that theme! On this page, you can get details about the new Walt Disney World parade that may help you decide if you'd like to see it! (Of course, you won't see ALL of the Disney characters in the parade on this page---there would be just to many pictures to fit!
2009 is "Celebration Year" at Walt Disney World!
And the Magic Kingdom's new parade helps carry out that theme
With millions of visitors every year, it's hard for Walt Disney World to make any ONE of them "feel special."But, the Magic Kingdom wants to TRY! During 2009, Walt Disney World is celebrating the year of YOU. Your dreams. Your hopes. And, mostly, your accomplishments. Just WHAT are the things you're celebrating that bring you to Walt Disney World in Orlando? Is it your birthday? Maybe! Because WDW is giving away FREE admission tickets to everyone on their birthdays during 2009 (as you may have heard,) more people are celebrating their birthdays at Disneyworld than ever before.
Or...are you celebrating your anniversary? Or your graduation? Or your good grades (kids) or your promotion at work (adults)? Or, maybe that you still have a job and enough money for a Disney World vacation!Whatever it is, you'd better have an answer ready. Why? Because Disney World's Cast Members just might ASK you what you're celebrating! It's all part of the theme parks fine effort to make everyone feel noticed and more involved with the park.
The "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade is the Magic Kingdom's featured afternoon parade for 2009. A big advantage of this popular parade is that you'll see many Disney characters...and most of them ride high up on the floats. Because it's a sad fact that MOST people who view the parade will NOT have front-row seats along the route, this arrangement lets guests see the passing Disney characters even if they're not in the first or second rows of viewers! (In fact, when taking these pictures, I was in back of a crowd which had gathered in front of Cinderella's castle--and you can see that the view was still good!) But visitors who feel that the Disney characters are too "distant" in their lofty perches don't need to worry, either! For "Celebration Year 2009" this isn't the ONLY daytime parade in the Magic Kingdom. The "Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it!" Street Party parade is also being performed as well. You and your kids will get a chance to interact and dance with the characters. Which parade is better? Easy answer--BOTH!
Mickey Mouse leads the 2009 Celebration parade!
Pictures of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in the Magic Kingdom parade
Mickey Mouse wears an elegant white tuxedo in the new Magic Kingdom parade, and he's never looked finer! His attractive white outfit is trimmed in Royal Blue...how fitting, as the King of Disney World! The floats may be recognizable to you if you've seen other Magic Kingdom parades in the past few years. Some people have expressed disappointment that the floats weren't new...but there IS a reason. This is a special themed parade which will NOT be long-lasting at the Magic Kingdom. It will be running throughout 2009, but since it's fairly temporary, it doesn't make sense that this would be a huge-budget parade. We don't want our ticket prices to go up even MORE than they already cost, would we?
The floats are wonderfully colorful, and themed exactly to the park's Celebration Year emphasis. If you love brilliant blue, purple, red and other colors...and if you love glittery, shimmery finishes...and party hats...and streamers...then you'll adore the look of the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade. There's a sound track that's upbeat and will get your toes tapping...and you'll find yourself smiling & waving back at the characters as they pass by!
Mickey and Minnie Mouse can be seen from BOTH the left and right side of the street. This isn't true for all of the characters. Some floats make it easy to see some of the Disney characters easier from the right side, and others from the left side. In fact, you'd have to view the parade twice to get a good view of the entire list of characters. That's because Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are the parade's most popular characters, so the park took special care so that everyone can see them! Both Mickey and Minnie turn from side to side frequently to greet their fans on both sides of the street. Everyone should be able to see their faces and wave back. (But, if you've got a camera, just snap away quickly! Mickey will be turned in the other direction if you take too long to line up your shot!)
Minnie Mouse wears a cute pink dress, which adds still more color to the parade float. She's not standing side-by-side with Mickey in this parade...which is both good and bad. Minnie Mouse stands at a lower level than Mickey, which means that guests sitting at street level will find her easier to see. Guests in the back, however, will have a more difficult time spotting her. In the back, it's not uncommon to see toddlers get boosted up onto their parents' shoulders as Minnie comes by.
Cinderella in the Magic Kingdom Parade 2009
Who's another very popular character in the 2009 Magic Kingdom parade? It's Cinderella! Along with her handsome prince, she rides in the parade atop a platform in her Pumpkin Coach. To your right, you can see a picture of Cinderella beaming with a huge smile as she gazes fondly at her loving prince.
To your left, you see a picture of Cinderella and her prince gazing out at the crowd lining the Magic Kingdom's parade route. The pumpkin coach is a vehicle that puts a minimum of obstacles in your way for viewing both Cinderella and the prince. Nevertheless, it will be easier to see the prince from one side of the street, and Cinderella from the other side. Nevertheless, both Cinderella and the Prince turn from side to side at intervals and try to make sure that everyone gets to see them.
And to your right, here's a picture of Cinderella embracing her Prince with tenderness in the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade. If you're a fan of the other Disney Princesses, don't think that Cinderella's the only one of them who appear in this fun new parade. Because, she's not! Princess Belle and the Beast appear in this Walt Disney World parade, too. Snow White and Ariel (the Little Mermaid) also appear in the parade...along with their own special princes, too. If you view the slide show at the top of this page, you can see their pictures.
Cinderella and her Prince aren't the only characters from the Cinderella story riding in the parade. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother appears in the Magic Kingdom's Celebration parade, too! You can see the Fairy Godmother's picture to your left. Her flowing blue robe with bright pink bow add color to the pageant. The outfit's satiny fabric seems to sparkle in Florida's brilliant sunshine. It's easy to see Cinderella's Fairy Godmother from both sides of the parade as she waves her wand and turns from side to side to wave to her fans.
Disney Villains in the Magic Kingdom's 2009 Parade
Characters you "love to hate" include the Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil, Malificent and Jafar
Beloved Disney characters aren't the only ones riding in the Magic Kingdom's parade for 2009.Some of the characters you "love to hate" take the spotlight, as well! To your left, you can see a picture of Cruella de Vil (from the Disney's 101 Dalmatians movies.) She lets loose with an evilly raucous laugh as part of "hamming it up" for the parade's spectators.
When the wicked Evil Queen from Snow White's story isn't busy in the lab improving her terrible spells and poison apples......she spends her spare time riding in the Magic Kingdom's "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade! To your right, you see the wicked queen gazing haughtily at the crowd. Be careful what you do as she passes; this is one gal you do NOT want to make mad at you!
Of course, not all of the Disney Villains are women. Jafar, from Disney's Aladdin movie, represents Disney's evil males on the Villains parade float. With his face set in a disdainful sneer, he has no reason to greet the crowd with a smile. NONE of the onlookers are his fans!
