How can you maximize your savings at an outlet mall?

Getting the best discounts requires some advance planning

Still, that doesn't mean outlet malls are cheap. You may not even think that outlet pricing isn't good enough to make it worth your travel-time to get to them. If you're in that category, here are some suggestions for getting better deals and cheaper prices from your outlet mall trip.

1.) Know what the regular retail price is for the items you want. Bargain-lovers should scout out their local malls for sales, and be aware of the prices they can get close to home. When you can find good sale prices in your local shops, grab the bargains where you find them. Informed shoppers can spot the good deals better than those who are less aware.

2.) Shop during sale periods at the outlet mall. These are the times when it becomes easier to find really good deals. Just like your local mall, factory outlet centers have sale days around holidays and at the end of the different seasons.

3.) Plan ahead by getting on-line coupons and joining VIP shopping clubs. More coupons than ever are available for you to print them at home before you head to the outlet mall. These can be found on the official websites of many malls. While it won't be a bargain if you end up buying things you don't need, these coupons can knock off 10%, 20% or more from your total...and give you a great sense of satisfaction, as well!

Ohio's top outlet mall locations

When you arrive at the pleasant Aurora Farms Premium Outlets, you'll find about 70 factory stores awaiting you. This outdoor mall features an unusual design; some of the stores feature close-up parking, while getting to others may require a little stroll. You may even find that you need to re-park to finish your shopping here! Some popular name brands you'll encounter at the Aurora Farms outlet mall are Saks Fifth Avenue's Off 5th outlet, Coach, Fossil, Justice Just for Girls, Bose electronics, Le Gourmet Chef, DKNY Jeans, and several dozen other good stores.

An ambitious mall, this sprawling complex will offer you about 100 factory stores once all of its stores have opened. Included in the mix are some very popular name brands...and "something for everyone" in your family. Teens will find the latest fashion trends at favorite stores such as Aeropostale, PacSun, Oakley Vault and Rue 21. Men and women will find both office wear and casual clothing at famous-name stores such as Hugo Boss, BCBG Max Azria, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Izod, Chico's, Jones New York and plenty more (including a large Saks Off 5th outlet, as well.) Kids will have their own stores, too, including J Crew's children's store Crewcuts; plus Carter's, Osh Kosh, Stride Rite Shoes and Gymboree.

The new mall features an outdoor design punctuated with decor touches, such as fountains, planters, and benches. A climate-controlled food court will serve your group as a gathering place when you take a shopping break. About half a dozen different casual dining choices will be available when fully open.

The Lodi Station Outlets were formerly called the Lodi Prime Outlets, and were once a member of the nationally-known Prime Outlets chain. Since being purchased by new owners in 2007, Lodi Station has stepped up its advertising and made renovations...including the addition of cute custom-made trains (which can be ridden for a small fee.) Have the improvements worked to lure customers to this out-of-town location? Yes, so far, so good, say local news sources---despite the economic recession.

Oregon's top outlet mall locations

The Tanger Outlets at Lincoln City are a mid-sized outdoor mall featuring name brands which will appeal to all members of your family. Teens will love the Hollister, Aeropostale, Zumiez and Quicksilver stores; adults will enjoy shopping at Coldwater Creek, Eddie Baur, Gap & Reebok, and kids will like the Justice Just for Girls and Gymboree stores. About 50 good outlet stores vie for your attention at this pleasant-looking outlet mall. Unlike the Rockvale Square outlets, this particular Lancaster outlet mall isn't going to do much to help you furnish or decorate your house. However, clothing and accessories are a specialty here, and you may choose to spend your shopping dollars at some top name brand outlets. You'll find Brooks Brothers, Clarks-Bostonian shoes, Guess, Coach, Fossil, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Ultra Diamonds and a long list of others.

Limerick is an out-of-the-way suburb; and you'll drive a ways, because the mall isn't directly off of a freeway. BUT, once you get here, you'll find an attractive outdoor mall stuffed with a whopping 150 good outlet stores. Because it's such a very large mall, you'll find all the "usual suspects" here, PLUS some outlet shopping opportunities you don't come across every day...such as a BCBG Final Cut store (as well as a "regular" BCBG Max Azria outlet.)
